We found Tamagawa more accidentally for a late lunch. So happy we stopped here. The food was amazing - great sashimi and grilled mackerel. But the absolute highlight were the grilled scallops. We were so grateful to the staff who single-handedly managed the restaurant and prepared the fabulous food.

We ordered take away from the restaurant tonight . The order took over an hour , we spent $170 and to be honest the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered two salmon teriyaki meals, and it was disgusting . It was like a bowl of cat food with rice . It was all mushy , and there was loads of wasabi , mixed through. I couldn’t eat it. We also ordered two teriyaki chicken meals, the chicken was tough and most ended up in the bin. They didn’t really acknowledge the fact we had waited so long, and only because I checked it before leaving, did we realise we were three dishes missing. I would not recommend this restaurant.

It's the best Japanese restaurant in the city. The service was very fast and the food portions were generous. A must try!

3.5 stars out of 5 Things I liked - The ramen was authentic and 5/5 - Staff was friendly - The variety of food - Decor The things I disliked - hygiene was an issue - Food was slow - Menu wasn’t updated online $16 for ramen actually $20 in store - an extra egg cost $3.80 The best part of this place is the authentic Japanese food that isn’t just sushi. My honest opinion is they may have started strong but adopted a very “casual western” attitude to service and cleanliness. The food is actually good but they’ve dropped their standards in certain areas. This restaurant wouldn’t probably do as well competing with others similar in Japan. Genuine suggestions : 1. hire another younger worker who just cleans and takes orders. Or reduce workload on just the one lovely waitress. 2. Clean tables quickly. Reduce addons like egg. 3. Update menu online. Would I come back? Yes どうもありがとうございます and I hope your restaurant does well.

Really love every bits of the food that they serve here. Taste really authentic, so many different variety. The atmosphere is really cute. Don’t judge by the design or the restaurant service scape, it’s more about the taste of the food really. Everything is top notch. Well done👍 .
