We read positive reports on the eatery, and we’re excited to try some great Sri Lanka cuisine. I would really like for this review to be seen as feed back. I don’t wish to trash the restaurant, but to instead provide some pointers. Firstly Atmosphere: it is strange to sit in silence, they need some Music to cut the silence. The venue looks nice enough, but when considering the lack of music and air conditioning - members of our party walked outside multiple times for fresh air. 2. we booked for 8, the table was set for 6 and after asking for cutlery multiple times we got some ourselves off another table. 3. Stock. There were so many items in the menu from food to soft drinks to tea that they didnt have. One tea was ordered at a cost of 6.50 and it came as a tea bag in a cup half filled with hot water. Being Sri Lankan you would think tea would be a specialty. 4. Service: I’m not sure if the lass was working solo front of house and kitchen, but it seemed that the job was beyond her. We had to request serving spoons with the dishes we were sharing multiple times, food had to be sent back because it was cold, and service was slow and disjointed. The food was tasty though, and this place could be very enjoyable, id suggest if you walk in and there is no music, then this review has fallen on deaf ears and id walk out again. I truely wish them the best of luck.
Amazing food. The best South Asian food that we tried in Launceston. Warm Sri Lankan service and authentic Sri Lankan flavours. A must try. We had the fried rice, kottu on Friday and came back for the chicken and pork curries with pol rotti and yellow rice on Sunday. Will come back for sure!
Five stars for food and service…. but, there just wasn’t enough of it. It was really nice but its not cheap and you really wouldn’t want to be hungry. Small portions and the price don’t gel with the whole ‘street food’ sales pitch. Otherwise… very pleasant staff and located in a pleasant quiet laneway. And, well done for being open Sunday night…. thank you….. perhaps a little too quiet.
My partner and I had a great date night here. We wanted to try something more different. The food was absolutely in, the service was outstanding and not to mention how incredible the family work with a new born baby too. 🥺 will be coming again! * only thing we notice was a surcharge for BYO and weekend charge, just a heads up *
Lovely atmosphere! We were wandering by and decided to try this restaurant for lunch. The food was absolutely delicious with very enticing presentation. The dessert came in coconut bowls with mint leaf garnish. It really made our visit to Launceston, would definitely go again.
