On our way to Newcastle, we decided to call off at Stockton and do the Shipwreck walk along the Newcastle North Breakwater. While only a 15-20 minute walk, it's well worth the visit as it gives you a great view of the Stockton Passage, Nobby's Lighthouse and the Oyster Bank shipwreck. While walking along, there was plenty of wildlife to see including a few Dolphin's, seabirds and a crab or two. Highly recommended if in the area.
This is a great short walk. Less people walk it compared to the Newcastle side. Parking is easy. Yesterday I did the walk and saw a seal, dolphins, ship brought in and people fishing off the rocks. Great day.
A nice windy walk into the ocean with stories along the way. Great vantage point to look at ships as they enter and exit the harbour as well. Great spot at dusk and dawn to admire the sky as well.
Great place to have a walk alone or with family. The distance is fair with a lot of stories. Excellent point to see the ship entering or leaving the Port of Newcastle. Will definitely come back again.
A lovely 2 kilometre return walk along the seawall with lots of memorials along the wall up to the Aldophe wreck at the end, a fascinating shipwreck and a very impressive piece of history from 1904. The wreck and the history is well documented on placards at the beginning of the walk and at the end of the seawall with a look out platform
