I don’t normally leave reviews but this experience was so terrible I felt I needed to. The restaurant has a simple menu but we’re totally disorganised and only after 1 1/2 hours did we finally receive our food, except for the chips, really how hard is it to serve chips. Ended up leaving quite hungry.

This is a hard review to write. Firstly the food was outstanding and the one front of house person who was actually working was fabulous..that said the manager (after riding in on his e-bike and parking it in the middle of the empty restaurant) just sat there tapping on his computer while the solo wait staff hustled. She was struggling.. it was beyond disappointing to see. While loved the food, the time it took for service and the mistakes made due to all the pressure put on one person would make think twice before coming back as it was evident the four other tables were sharing the same experience as us.. I also do not understand why you would serve such an amazing platter of dips with just two pieces of bread?

Absolute quality dining experience! Food was insanely delicious and made with love. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor was beautiful especially with the addition of Persian rugs, creating a comfortable, home-like dining atmosphere. This is a restaurant that deservedly stands out amongst others on Fitzroy street. Will be returning and recommending to friends and family. Superb job Buba

Took myself here for dinner before a performance as a treat and was the best decision I could have made. Food was incredible, the host is wonderful, and the atmosphere is very comfortable for a solo diner. As a group or by yourself this is a 10/10 choice for a meal (I can recommend the brisket)

Middle Eastern in Melbourne that SMACKS?! Yes, Buba Local Shuk is it! Just walked in on a Sunday night and it had a few people in it, and I quickly became one of them. We ordered the dips and they were all delicious. Couldn't pick a favourite. Didn't come with enough bread, but they happily gave us more upon request. And boy was the bread good! Then came my main, slow roasted beef brisket served on crispy smashed potatoes and finished with raw tahini, spicy tomato salad & schug. And DAMN IT WAS GOOD! Some of the best beef I've eaten in Melbourne. Very special stuff from the chef. Thats type of beef you think about a week later. And the potatoes were so perfectly done. Crispy outside, soft on the inside. Beautiful meal and amazing service. Highly recommend this spot in St Kilda.
